Who is Anthony Scaramucci?

Anthony Scaramucci, often referred to as the Mooch, is a 52 year old from New York who for the last ten days was President Trump’s communication director. This came after Mr Spicer had handed in his notice as the White House’s Press Secretary.

Scaramucci became famous whilst working for Goldman Sachs and even went on to be a fundraiser for Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign before supporting Mick Romney’s campaign in 2012.

What did Anthony Scaramucci do in his 10 days?

During his first public press conference, Scaramucci, apologised for comments he said about Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign and on the next day, the 22nd July, announced he was deleting old tweets about the president to avoid the media getting distracted.

On the 23rd July, Scaramucci held an interview with CNN where he tried to cast doubt on whenever the Trump White House knew if Russia interfered with the US election by quoting an anonymous source.

“You know, somebody said to me yesterday — I won’t tell you who — that if the Russians actually hacked this situation and spilled out those e-mails, you would have never seen it. You would have never had any evidence of them, meaning that they’re super confident in their deception skills and hacking,”  Anthony Scaramucci to Jake Tapper.

After being asked by Mr Tapper who his anonymous source was Scaramucci admitted it was President Trump.

Scaramucci on the 24th July allowed TV cameras in press conferences something which Sean Spicer banned whilst he was the White House’s Press Secretary which had received  heavy criticism.

A key event during Scaramucci’s time as White House Communication Director was a phone call with the New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza.  During this phone call, Scaramucci threatened to fire everyone on his staff. Obviously, this got Mr Scaramucci in a tad of trouble especially the remark about Priebus “c*** blocking” him from a job in the Whitre House.

Who fired Anthony Scaramucci and why?

John Kelly, the President’s new chief of staff, fired Anthony Scaramucci in order to assert order in the West Wing of the White House after Scaramucci’s outburst about other members of the President’s staff such as Kelly’s predecessor, Priebus, as well as Bannon.

So, do you think John Kelly was right to fire Scaramucci? Who will replace Anthony Scaramucci?

  1. I presume Scaramucci’s successor will be another former member of Trumps’s election team or at least someone of his trusted inner circle (#nepotism).
Kelly was probably right in firing Scaramucci but on the other hand he’d have to change the key members of the staff completely to get a clean sheet. No one is indispensable at the moment I guess.

  2. I presume Scaramucci’s successor will be another former member of Trumps’s election team or at least someone of his trusted inner circle (#nepotism). Either way Kelly would’ve to fire almost everyone from the staff to get a clean sheet and start from scratch. No one’s indispensable right now.
